Resting Bike Face

Alahera’s entry to the New Designers Fair 2025 is a collection called “Resting Bike Face”, a tribute to the bicycle as a symbol of women’s resilience and ongoing quest for equality.

Once seen as a threat to the social order, the simple act of women riding bicycles sparked controversy - and change. It gave women fewfound independence, enabling them to travel, organise, and protest. Despite efforts to stop them, women persisted, and the bicycle became an engine of transformation, influencing everything from voting rights to fashion.

The collection serves as a wearable reminder to keep pedalling forward in the face of opposition - a striking fusion of concept and craft that honours the enduring strength of women. See and touch the collection at the New Designers Fair from July 2 - 5 at the Business Design Centre, 52 Upper Street, London N1 0QH.
